A big performance boost for Lenovo's Y900 gaming laptop

Lenovo's gaming distinct laptops has been one of the best-kept secrets in PC gaming for some time. While most other COMPUTER SYSTEM makers were cranking away oversized, overpriced machines that appeared as if they belonged in some sort of dorm room, the B series laptops had some sort of (relatively) subtle look, were reasonably thin with regard to gaming hardware and gave gamers mainstream performance with a mainstream price. The Y50, considered one of my favorite gaming notebook computers, even offered a touchscreen display and 4K display at any given time when both were almost unusual in gaming laptops.

The new Ideapad Y900 isn't a significant reimagining of the series, but does address considered one of its only major weak spots. Like many mainstream gaming systems (including the HP Omen), the design cards, the most important area of the component chain, topped out in the midrange. First that has been Nvidia's GeForce 860M GPU, later the 960M -- both equally fine for even the latest games at 1, 920x1, 080 solution and medium detail options, but not great with regard to serious PC gamers who wanted to benefit from higher detail levels as well as higher resolutions.

The Y900 now includes the latest Nvidia high-end mobile GPU, the GeForce 980M, as well as a new sixth-generation Intel Central i7 processor. That's only other gaming laptops offer you, but it at very least brings the Lenovo line up to speed with the more powerful gaming laptops offered by Asus and others. Lenovo additionally includes some software-based overclocking, which has a CPU and RAM speed boost in the touch of a "turbo" button.

The look is very like the past few ages, but slightly streamlined, with deeper cutouts down the angular back cover. The familiar red backlit keyboard continues, but now the light colors might be customized. This is additionally a mechanical keyboard, which means there's a discrete physical switch under every person key, which is an essential feature for PC game enthusiasts. Finally, the wrist rest now has a rubberized surface that feels good to the touch, but I'd have to test it over several hours to view if it's comfortable eventually.

With newer, faster hardware and a more rewarding design, the new Lenovo Ideapad Y900 gaming laptop is more expensive than the previous designs, but still in series with other Nvidia 980M programs. It'll start at $1, 999 the united states when it's available inside June.
